Wobarth World

Welcome to Wobarth, a world of twin suns, fiery red grass, silver-leaved trees, suspiciously emotional luggage, and heroes who often find greatness by accident.

Wobarth is a humorous fantasy world where magic is powerful, monsters are inconvenient, and common sense is usually the first casualty of adventure. It is a place of barbarian clans, strange creatures, wandering wizards, living chests, tiny sea captains, dangerous shell-weapons, and plants that are far more important than they have any right to be.

At the heart of Wobarth is the story of Knogg Shadowlong, a very large barbarian with a very gentle soul, a very heavy club, and a talent for becoming involved in problems that were definitely someone else’s fault. Alongside his friends Rainey, Bash, Flynn, Kel, and a growing number of creatures with questionable manners, Knogg must cross a world that is beautiful, ridiculous, dangerous, and occasionally sticky.

This website is a place to explore that world before, during, and after the story. Here you will find character profiles, creature guides, artwork, strange plants, magical objects, book updates, and glimpses into the lands, legends, and deeply unwise decisions that make Wobarth what it is.

So step carefully, keep an eye on your trousers if there is a Nook nearby, and welcome to the World of Wobarth.

Wobarth is not the sort of world that likes to explain itself too quickly. It prefers to unfold gradually, usually while someone is shouting, a cart is rolling backwards, and a small creature with too many opinions is chewing through something important.

Across its cities, villages, forests, cliffs and coastlines, Wobarth is a place where magic is common enough to be useful, rare enough to be impressive, and unreliable enough to make sensible people stand well back. Its markets are full of traders selling strange fruits, questionable potions, oversized root vegetables, lucky charms, unlucky charms, and items that were definitely not cursed when they were put out that morning.

The great cities of Wobarth are beautiful, bustling, and only slightly overconfident. Tall towers rise above crowded streets, purple crystals glow in hidden corners, and somewhere in the distance there is usually a wizard explaining that the smoke is meant to do that. Travellers, guards, merchants, barbarians, tiny sea folk, confused nobles, and suspicious luggage all pass through these streets, each convinced they are the sensible one.

They are usually wrong.

But beneath the noise, nonsense and occasional livestock-related emergency, Wobarth is a world of wonder. It is a land of loyal friends, dangerous journeys, impossible creatures, ancient magic, brave mistakes, and heroes who become heroes mainly because nobody else read the instructions.

Welcome to Wobarth. Mind the market carts, never argue with a chest, and if a Nook looks innocent, check your bootlaces.

There are places in Wobarth where the world seems to pause, take a deep breath, and try very hard to look more sensible than it actually is. This is one of them.

At the edge of the great forest, ancient trees lean over the hills like nosy elders at a village meeting, their roots gripping the earth with the confidence of things that have seen kingdoms rise, fall, and make a terrible mess of the paperwork. Beyond them, the land rolls away in copper grass, green moss, and deep woodland shadow, until the towers of the distant city rise pale and proud against the mountains.

It is the sort of view that makes travellers stop and stare. It is also the sort of view that makes experienced travellers check their boots, their purse, their lunch, and whether anything with teeth has started following them.

The forest itself is old. Not “old” in the ordinary sense, like a chair your uncle refuses to throw away, but properly old, old enough to remember when the hills were sharper, the rivers were ruder, and magic had not yet learned to behave in public. Strange birds call between the branches. Purple plants glow where they have no business glowing. Somewhere in the undergrowth, something small is almost certainly watching, judging, and wondering if your sandwich is available.

And beyond it all stands the city, bright as a promise and probably twice as complicated.

This is Wobarth at its finest: beautiful, dangerous, faintly enchanted, and just waiting for someone large, brave, and poorly informed to wander into it.
