Characters of Wobarth

Every world is shaped by its people, and Wobarth has no shortage of memorable ones. Across its wild lands, strange kingdoms, dangerous roads, and deeply questionable places of interest, you will find warriors, wanderers, rulers, rogues, unlikely heroes, stubborn survivors, and individuals who seem to treat danger as if it were merely an enthusiastic form of weather. Some are brave. Some are foolish. Some are frighteningly competent. Some are only still alive because luck has a soft spot for idiots.

The characters of Wobarth are at the heart of its stories. They argue, fight, scheme, protect, misunderstand, charge heroically into trouble, and occasionally make surprisingly good decisions by accident. Some carry weapons, some carry secrets, and some carry the heavy burden of being the only sensible person in the room. Together, they bring the world to life not as perfect heroes carved from legend, but as people with loyalties, flaws, hopes, fears, and a remarkable talent for making already difficult situations considerably worse.

Here you can meet the heroes, troublemakers, companions, rivals, rulers, and oddities who walk the lands of Wobarth one adventure, argument, and questionable plan at a time.

Knogg Shadowlong

Knogg Shadowlong is not a man people tend to miss. Standing far taller than anyone has any practical right to, with the build of a small siege engine and the general presence of a mountain that has recently learned to walk, Knogg is one of Wobarth’s more noticeable inhabitants.

Despite his immense size and strength, Knogg is not cruel, boastful, or especially interested in being terrifying. This is inconvenient, as he is very good at looking terrifying by accident. Beneath the muscle and scars, there is a loyal heart, a gentle nature, and a stubborn sense of right and wrong that often gets him into trouble.

Knogg carries the Club of Distraction, a heavy wooden and iron weapon that tends to make arguments shorter and enemies reconsider their career choices. He is not a man of polished speeches or delicate plans, but when danger arrives, usually with teeth, Knogg is the sort of friend you want standing between you and the problem.

He may not always understand exactly what is going on, but he will do his best anyway. And in Wobarth, that may be exactly the kind of hero the world needs.

Purdy Blackfoot

Purdy Blackfoot is the sort of person people underestimate only once, and sometimes not even for very long. Sharp-eyed, quick-witted, and more than capable with a bow, she has the calm confidence of someone who has already decided exactly where the trouble is going to stand before she shoots it.

Brave, practical, and fiercely loyal, Purdy has little patience for foolishness, which is unfortunate given the company she often keeps. She is usually the one who notices the important details, asks the awkward questions, and tries to steer events away from disaster before everyone else starts calling disaster an adventure.

Though she is a skilled warrior, Purdy’s greatest strength may be her determination. She will stand her ground when others hesitate, speak plainly when others dodge the truth, and protect those she cares about with a stubbornness that could shame a mountain.

In Wobarth, where danger has a habit of arriving early and bringing friends, Purdy is exactly the sort of person you want nearby, preferably on your side, and ideally not currently annoyed with you.

Bash Bighorn

Bash Bighorn is a man who believes most problems can be improved by running at them very quickly. Sometimes this works. Sometimes it creates a new problem with a surprised expression and fewer teeth.

Strong, loud, loyal, and dangerously enthusiastic, Bash is usually the first into trouble and occasionally the reason trouble noticed anyone was there in the first place. He has a warrior’s heart, a stubborn head, and the sort of confidence normally found in people who have not read the warning sign.

Yet beneath the noise and chaos, Bash is warm-hearted, brave, and deeply loyal to his friends. He has a surprising gentleness with animals, especially his beloved Nooks, who seem to understand him better than most people do, though this may say more about the Nooks than anyone involved.

In Wobarth, where danger often arrives with claws, teeth, or paperwork, Bash is the sort of companion who will charge in without hesitation. This is both deeply reassuring and mildly alarming.

Freddy Candlelight

Freddy Candlelight is the sort of man who can walk into a tense room, smile politely, and leave ten minutes later having sold someone their own hat. Charming, quick-witted, and blessed with a talent for spotting opportunity before it has finished introducing itself, Freddy’s one of Wobarth’s more useful people to have nearby.

He is a trader, talker, negotiator, and survivor, with the rare ability to make a bad situation sound like a promising business arrangement. Where others might reach for a weapon, Freddy often reaches for a deal, a compliment, or a carefully worded explanation that may even be partly true.

That does not mean he is helpless when things turn ugly. Freddy is capable in a fight and quicker than most people expect, though he generally prefers solutions that leave his clothes intact and his teeth in their original arrangement.

In Wobarth, where danger can come from beasts, kings, magic, or poor financial decisions, Freddy is the sort of companion who knows when to talk, when to bargain, and when to run very quietly in the opposite direction.
